Baby Steps

I had decided that before I exert all that energy on digging up my weed infested, super hard, clay soiled yard, I'd better make sure I can grow something else from seed, all the way to a mature plant that would produce fruit.

So I set out to Lowes once again to purchase some more planters, seeds, and soil. My sister and I decided to try and grow cherry tomatoes. I had read online while researching gardening, that tomatoes are really one of the easiest plants to try and grow. - And they make great container plants too. Perfect! My sister decided to join in on my gardening project and bought some sunflower seeds and zinnia flower seeds as well. To plant our seeds we decided to go the easy and most successful way. We purchased a tray of Jiffy Peat Pots

Using this cool little tray, we planted a few cherry tomato seeds and sunflower seeds. Sprayed/Misted them with water everyday and kept it covered with the plastic top, to retain moisture and promote condensation. In about a week, the seeds sprouted and we were on our way!

Once the sprouts grew about 3 inches tall, we decided to transplant them to some bigger pots. We fed it fertilizer and watered them daily. And what do you know? They grew even bigger!
